the bid is proposing is to create uniform street artist stalls or displays and these would bear the city logo on them, they would all have a uniform color, and the idea would be that they could be easily identifiable even across the street if you are coming out of the westfield complex. the art commission likes this idea, they have endorsed it, the bid is also willing to pay for these displays. it would be a voluntary program, okay, this is not coming out of the street artist money and it's totally voluntary. if the street artist doesn't want to do it, fine. but we want to give it, like, a one-year trial period to see how it would work out. also what i wanted to call your attention to is that by law the street artist displays are 3 feet deep this way by 4 feet long this way, and no taller than 5 feet. and the design that the bid and the art commission staff came up with would exceed two of those dimensions. they would exceed the length dimension by one feet and exceed the height dimension by two feet, they would make it 7 feet tall. if you were to approve this pilot program and th

to impact the city's electric system. generally what kinds of things would the puc be spending on -- what would that be? >> excuse me, yeah. the funds would be for projects to sure up the transmission lines, particularly also to install relay protection devices and switches that would in effect if there is a blip in the electricity coming into our system, it can be cut out so that it doesn't ripple through the system and cause widespread damage to our facilities or to the grid. the way the cal aye sew has approached this, they deal with these in clusters. * iso north star is in one cluster, cluster number 1 for lack of a better title of about potentially 20 to 30 projects that all are in the same or general geographic area that might affect our facilities as they go through the process, we're looking at a set of projects that would protect us from all those projects. as i said, some of those projects may fall by the wayside. so, in the final analysis, there may be, say, 15 projects that end upcoming in. the level of protection, the kinds of things we should be doing would be similar to w

and confusion city-wide about the smoking history of apartments and sro rooms, as well as making it fair and equitable to protect smokers who try to be just and fair about not smoking in places where the ordinance is in place. thank you supervisor mar and supervisor campos for your co-sponsorship of the legislation and we look forward to seeing it before the full board. >> mr. davis or miss weiss >> good afternoon again, my name is ernestine weiss and i congratulate you on your effort to do this, eric, but this is seriously flawed and inadequate. there's no such thing as a smoke free apartment option because when tenants get in, they are going to smoke and it's going to drift 2 apartments away and to my apartment, which has only one sliding door since it's a studio and i have to close my door and i can't have fresh air. so this is totally inadequate. we have to ban all smoking in apartments, petaluma just did it, did you read about that? other cities have done it too. this is the only way to deal with this. tenants are not going to comply even if they have the option and so forth you
speed streets in our city closest to our most beloved park more safe for people walking. it clearly -- this project clearly falls into a categorical exemption from a full environmental review. it is clearly minor. and a reversal of the exemption would really set a bad precedent, forcing full reviews on traffic calming projects, even small scale fixes like bulbouts as well as other sustainable design improvements. a reversal would delay not only these current improvements that are much-needed as the previous speaker said on fell and oak, but critical projects in the future. we need safer streets sooner, not with more delays. so thank you very much. >> good evening, supervisors. my name is jason henderson, i'm with the hayes valley neighborhood association. the hvna enthusiastically endorsed this project and we ask that you reject this appeal. i've participated in multiple meetings on this project. there was a thorough public process. density has been mentioned. the real problem that we acknowledge in hayes valley is the density of cars is the real problem, not the density of people.

. the request is to remove and reconstruction a portion of the city-owned maintaining wall to construct a concrete driveway ramp with transition slope to conform to the existing sidewalk grade in order to provide vehicle access to the property at 54 peralta. we have reviewed project, the project has been routed to city planning for them to review on the conformity to the general plan and we receive a letter from them in december 12, 2011, stating that the project conforms to the general plan. we also referred the project to transportation advicery staff committee for them to review and they approved the project on march 22nd, 2012. the project subsequently referred to our department, structural section, hydraulic section, and to the disability sf (inaudible) for their review and they approved the project. we conduct a public hearing on june 6 and the project was later recommended for approval by the director of public works. i'm here, you know, if you have any question i'm here to answer any questions and also the project sponsor is also here if you have any additional questions that yo

in this neighborhood and people who just move throughout the city have said that these streets don't feel safe, they don't feel comfortable, please do something about it. and it took a while and it took some momentum to get us going but we finally did it. we finally brought the community together and we worked over nine months with a variety of stakeholders, local stakeholders, people throughout the city. and we came up with a plan. and that plan went before the mta board. they considered the policy merits of it and decided to pass it unanimously on october 16. again, i just wanted to emphasize because i think it's so important that we were able to engage so many people throughout the community and to come up with a plan that was balanced. and we considered several options. we considered removing a lane of traffic on oak street but oak street is very important for vehicle traffic and people throughout the city, in the western neighborhoods and as well in the eastern neighborhoods who use this street to access, you know, 19th avenue to get to the golden gate bridge or octavia to the 101 that it
